Every character receives 2 free secondary skills, based on Class and Race. Each level a character also receives an additional secondary skill point that the player can use to take a new secondary skill (which must be taught by someone who already has at least 2 points in that particular Secondary Skill) or to upgrade an existing secondary skill at will. Upgrading secondary skills makes them more potent and useful. Secondary skills are arranged in a Rank system. Typically putting 1 additional point into a given secondary skill levels it up to the next Rank, however some particularly powerful secondary skills may require more than 1 point to level.

NOTE: No combination of skills can ever allow a PC to have more than 2 attacks (with the same weapon) on the same target, per round or 3 attacks total on the same target, per round.

Animal Trainer

Training animals is a difficult process and only someone who has an extreme affinity for animals is generally able to do so. It is a useful skill to have and can be quite a commodity as many people have uses for trained animals, some for good and some for evil. Once an animal has been broken however it remains loyal to its master who has almost complete control over it. As the skill is refined the trainer can break larger and larger animals. Of course the animals must be located first. See Animal Training and Companions for details.

Rank1 – Novice Animal Trainer: Can attempt to tame, break, and train novice level animals. Can also use one extra control method and when controlling multiple animals with the same control method reduce the cumulative required control stats by 1.
Rank2 – Journeyman Animal Trainer: Can attempt to tame, break, and train journeyman level animals, with +1 for Animal Training related Stat Roll-Offs. Can also use two extra control methods and when controlling multiple animals with the same control method reduce the cumulative required control stats by 2.
Rank3 – Master Animal Trainer: Can attempt to tame, break, and train master level animals, with +2 for Animal Training related Stat Roll-Offs. Can also use three extra control methods and when controlling multiple animals with the same control method reduce the cumulative required control stats by 3.
Rank4 – Artisan Animal Trainer : Can attempt to tame, break, and train master level animals, with +3 for Animal Training related Stat Roll-Offs. Can also use four extra control methods and when controlling multiple animals with the same control method reduce the cumulative required control stats by 4.
